Description

The Horse Trust, situated at Slad Lane, Princes Risborough, HP27 0PP, is renowned for being the world’s oldest equine charity, established in 1886 by Miss Ann Lindo. Drawing inspiration from the novel "Black Beauty," the Trust has dedicated itself for over 137 years to offering a peaceful retirement and recuperation for hard-working horses, particularly those who have served in the Police, Army, or charitable organizations.

The Horse Trust is a sanctuary for horses, ponies, and donkeys, providing a restful haven for those who have labored dutifully for the nation. It also plays a significant role in advancing equine welfare through funding ethically approved, non-invasive veterinary research of the highest caliber. This research not only enhances veterinary treatments but also informs the Trust’s own best practices in horse care, with findings disseminated globally to benefit equine welfare on a wider scale.

Donations and legacy gifts are crucial for The Horse Trust, as they are the foundation for the care provided to the horses and the continuation of the Trust’s commitment to important research in the equine sector. Individuals can support the Trust by donating, sponsoring a resident, or leaving a gift in a will. Other options include corporate partnerships, payroll giving, volunteering, and participating in fundraising events like the Horses, Hounds & Heroes 2023. For those interested, the Trust also offers a lottery and venue hire, including Seftons Barn.
